Kate Ferguson-Schmidl is from Upstate New York, in the beautiful Finger Lakes area. She has a degree and background in Education from Ithaca College. Kate currently serves as Potlikker Capital’s Impact and Evaluation Associate and will utilize her commitment to Potlikker’s mission to create resiliency.

Kate grew up on a small horse farm in Geneva, NY, surrounded by the rich fields of the Finger Lakes known for soybeans, corn, wheat, cherries, apple farms, and grapes. She learned about farming from her grandfather, who worked 100 acres of land and grew all the food for the family. Kate has a long-standing commitment to women’s rights and family systems, is a 3rd generation Rotarian, and serves as a Board member of the Domestic Violence organization Safe Harbors of the Finger Lakes. In 1987, Kate was accepted into the international group Up With People and performed in 96 cities in 11 countries while providing community service with her cast. When she is not working, she loves spending time with her two children and grandchildren out in nature.
