Daniel Fireside

Daniel Fireside is a fundraising consultant for co-ops and other mission-driven companies. From 2010 through 2020, he was the Capital Coordinator for Equal Exchange, one of the largest worker-owned cooperatives in the U.S. Based in West Bridgewater, Massachusetts. At Equal Exchange, Daniel raised over $15 million in investments and mission-aligned debt, managed investor relations for over 500 individual and institutional investors, and served as an elected member of the company board. He provided strategic advice to Namaste Solar, a Colorado solar installation company, during their transition into a worker-cooperative, and has been an elected outside board director to the company since 2011. He has also served on the board of the Cooperative Fund of New England. 

Daniel is currently the lead fundraiser for Downtown Crenshaw Rising, a community-led initiative to purchase a 40+ acre property in Los Angeles and make it a showcase for Black community wealth, affordable housing, co-operative business, and eco-design. He has led an effort that has so far raised over $34 million in philanthropic support towards the purchase. 

Daniel has worked with non-profits, social enterprises, and community development organizations in the U.S., Guatemala, and elsewhere. He holds a Master’s degree in City and Regional Planning from Cornell University and a BA from UC Santa Cruz. He also speaks regularly at universities and conferences, including: Harvard Law School, MIT, Tufts, Northeastern University, Slow Money, SOCAP, among others.
